The work of this sub-committee is coming to a close. The text for the final report has been agreed and this will shortly be given to an editor. The report will be published and launched later this year.

Objectives

The Sub-Committee works to:

  • Promote the ICOMOS International Guidelines on Education and Training in the conservation of Monuments Ensembles and Sites;
  • Promote ICOMOS and ICOMOS charters to education training providers and students;
  • Provide a platform and facilitate debate on the changing needs of education and training in the field of conservation;
  • Sustain professional improvement of teaching faculty (training of trainers)
  • Encourage Continuous Professional Development
  • Encourage interdisciplinary links
  • To maintain contact with the ICOMOS International Training Committee(CIF)
     

The current focus of the Sub-Committee is on the following areas:

  • Review and updating of the 1994 ICOMOS Ireland report on the state of education and training for conservation in Ireland;
  • Promotion and advancement of the actions recommended in this report;
  • Encouraging participation by ICOMOS Ireland members in the work of the sub-committee;
  • Promotion and co-ordination of ICOMOS linked grant aided activity.
