The subcommittee was convened in 2006 and currently has five members:
Deirdre Conroy (Convener) is an art/architectural historian and building conservation consultant in private practice. She has completed historic research on 19th century Irish Model Agricultural Schools and contributed to publications such as Painting Ireland (topographical views of 18th and 19th century Ireland), Great Irish Houses and II Recupero dei Siti Rurali (Sicilia). She is a member of the International Committee of Vernacular Heritage.
Willie Cumming is senior architect with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government working with the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage. The inventory includes vernacular structures and surveys are published on the website http://www.buildingsofireland.ie
Charles Duggan is an art/architectural historian and heritage officer with Dublin City Council.
Deirdre McDermott is a conservation architect in private practice.
Nicki Matthews is a conservation officer with Dublin City Council.
The sub-committee liaises with the General Assembly through the President of the International Committee of Vernacular Architecture (CIAV). CIAV works to a programme in a 3-year cycle in tandem with the main committee, generally with a theme based on the main international theme. Click here for further information on the CIAV.
